Opposites Attract

I was sitting in my usual spot, at the end of the cell block. No chair, but rather, had propped my feet up on the grimy, white bars of the jail, and was sitting on hard cement. A hard cover book, about "The Universe", provided a clipboard of such, and lay against my knees.  I was writing, about the events of the day, as I had, since I first ended up here. I'm in jail.

I'm not that bad.  Not everyone that gets incarcerated, is deserving of such a fate. There are times when, life throws you a sucker-punch, and you find yourself in a place you would never thought you'd end up. Such is my fate, I'm stuck behind bars for crimes I didn't commit.  Blame it on the Police; they fabricated a report where I supposedly attacked them, and tried to get away. So, in retrospect, it doesn't really matter if I'm guilty of the accusations - there are written reports claiming I did.

I've been here for over a month.  I've grown accustomed to the aspect of j…

How to Fill your Freezer with Wild Game

[This is meant to be satire]

1. Buy a young beef cow from a local farmer.

2. Raise your beef on a diet of pine needles and bark.

3. In October, bring all your friends over to help you butcher the animal. At sunrise, have all your friends gather together for a tail-gate party; drink lots of beer.

4. Get the dog to chase the beef around the yard for a couple of hours. Use a four-wheeler to help if necessary. Tire the beef out, and pump as much adrenaline into the beef as possible; have your buddies take wild shots at it, scaring the living crap out of it. Try to be as rambunctious as possible.

5. After the beef starts to get really tired, gut shot it. If you can, shoot it a couple of more times, hitting it in the best cuts of meat, preferably the loin and the back legs. Stand back, and let nature take its course. Wait for a few hours; 5 or 8 is best.  Drink beer.

6. Find dead carcass, and field dress it; try to get as much dirt, leaves, and sticks in it as possible. Use a dry, dead sti…

Destructive Values

Humans as a race, are constantly threatened by destruction; either natural or man-made. Throughout history, humanity has been plagued by disease, famine, earthquakes, volcanic activity, tsunamis, and many more natural occurrences; the greatest threat to modern humans, however, comes from the degradation of values. While human history is blanketed by self-destructive acts - war, slavery, and greed, these factors were tempered by the technology, or lack thereof; medieval weaponry was limited to the amount of destruction, compared to modern weaponry.  The fact remains, there has always been individuals who are malicious, destructive or veritably evil. The persecution of others is an age-old, unfortunate aspect; the planet was conquered by men and women, seeking domination over others - while the reasons vary, the end result is the same. This is an important fact; a great many horrible wrongs have been committed in an effort to do good deeds. In the end, it all comes down to one aspect - …

Blank Slate

Blank slate. The term implies renewal, or a fresh start; the connotation also indicating and end, or finality, with the results having been "rubbed clean" with the anticipation of new results - usually after a realization of wrong calculations or incorrectness. After all, why start over completely if things are proper, correct, or "working out"? It is indicative of a realization of mistakes, with an effort to discard a previous state, with new ideas and results, to achieve better results or correctness.

The term comes from an outdated era in history, when people would use slate (a hard surface of smooth mineral) to write on, with chalk. It's prevalent use in schools, offices, and other facilities is due to the usefulness of the structure - easy to write on, and easy to erase; strong, durable, and can be used over and over again. With the emergence of erasable markers, the "black board" or hand-held slates were eliminated.  Now, technology provides an e…

Inspirational Quotations

Quotes That Inspired and Move Me

"An artist needs to experience trial and tribulation in order to render their soul capable to inspire the rare and delicate fantasies that exist within the vibrant cord of the heart. It is only through such persecution that the exquisite melodrama and strength of character are realized. For without struggle, without hardship, and without pain, an artist cannot express them self and truly relate to others." - Zzorhn Carlson, July 2012

There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves - Will Rogers

"My heart is my Achilles heel." - Zzorhn Carlson, June 27, 2015

I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

Between the Bars of a Jail Cell

On June 30th, I was involved in an incident, where I ended up in jail. During that time, I kept a journal; a log of my emotional state and my surroundings.  I started it, as an outlet for my own, and it morphed into something much more.

The events that follow, are based on true events and circumstances.  Many have asked about the wisdom of creating a written record of this, but, I believe this needs to be heard.

Names are not included.  Times change, and things that happened since the night that changed my life. Some of the entries that follow were based on facts at hand, and do not necessarily represent current situations.

I hope you enjoy the journey and adventure.

July 1

If I could list my feelings about the events of June 30th, I would have to remind myself that, the only person I could have changed, was me.

I made the mistake of believing that I change someone else.

I believed that with my knowledge of sociology and psychology, that I could help you. I…
